Carlos Richard Alleyne, was born in 1941 and lived in Old and New Gamboa until 1966. He attended Santa Cruz Elementary School and graduated from Paraiso High School in 1960. After completing The Panama Canal Apprenticeship Program, he migrated to the U.S. and was employed as a Marine Pipefitter with Pacific Ship Repair Company and Pacific Coast Engineers in the San Francisco California Bay Area. In 1993 he retired as a Field Service Rep. with Pacific Gas & Electric Company in northern California. Carlos is the second of the seven children born to Leroy and Luisa Alleyne. He declares, “Gamboa is the only place where I have experienced COMMUNITY. My life models have been: my Jamaican and Barbadian grandparents, my parents, my teachers, my church, my community leaders and the earlier generation of GYAMBO children (born between the mid 1920’s and 1930’s)”.
